Genna Suraci
At the Annual Meeting on January 29, 2010, Genna was elected to her first term on the Board of Directors.
Genna, the principal at Ulster BOCES in Port Ewen, is familiar to Center members who attended last year’s Come Out & Find Out conference, where she was the keynote speaker. She has had considerable volunteer involvement, including as a board member, with SkillsUSA, a youth organization; she also ran for Congress in 2006. Genna hopes to bring more diversity to the board by providing the perspective of a transgender person. As an educator working with high school students, she is also especially interested in initiatives that will help LBGTQ youth feel more safe, comfortable and welcome attending school.
