Carmen Vázquez is an activist, writer and community intellectual. Some of her work regarding liberation is published in conmoción, a Latina lesbian magazine created in part by tatiana de la tierra to build a platform for Latina lesbian conversation and visibility. She recently retired as the Director of the LGBT Health & Human Services Unit for the NYS AIDS Institute. She is the former Deputy Executive Director of the Empire State Pride Agenda. She was the government and public policy director of the New York City LGBT Community Services Center, a founding member of the New York State LGBT Health and Human Services Network, a board member of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, a board member of the Funding Exchange’s OUT Fund and a Co-Chair of Equality Federation from 2004 – 2006. She was a founder of The Women’s Building in San Francisco, California and of Causes in Common, a national coalition of LGBT Liberation and Reproductive Justice Activists.

Yonah EtShalom is the founding program director of Transgender Health Services at Planned Parenthood mid-Hudson Valley. Before coming to Planned Parenthood, Yonah worked to improve healthcare quality and access through education, including workshops on pelvic exams for clinicians and clinical students and community workshops on self-exam and self-advocacy. Yonah also studied barriers to safe abortion access throughout the US and globally during their MPH work at Emory University. Currently, in addition to their work as program director, they serve as a consultant for the Center’s cultural responsiveness training program, and as a member of the TGNCNB Leadership Collective of New York State.

The Tyler Clementi Foundation’s mission is to end online and offline bullying in schools, workplaces and faith communities. Founded in 2011 by the Clementi family in memory of Tyler – a son, brother and friend – the foundation’s flagship bullying-prevention and education program is#Day1. Other programs include the Upstander Pledge, Upstander Speaker Series, Tyler’s Suite,Workplace Training and True Faith Doesn’t Bully, a public education campaign that fights religious bullying. The Tyler Clementi Higher Education Anti-Harassment Act, re-introduced in Congress in 2016, would require colleges and universities receiving federal funding to prohibit harassment based on actual or perceived race, color, national origin, sex, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or religion.
