“This week’s (7/25) Arts & Crafts Group is cancelled due to a facilitator conflict. Please join us at the next meeting on Monday August 8th. We apologize for the inconvenience & can’t wait to craft with you soon!”

2nd & 4th Mondays 6:30-8pm

300 Wall Street, Kingston

Each month, the Arts & Crafts group meets on the second and fourth Monday of the month from 6:30pm – 8:00pm at the LGBTQ center in Kingston, NY. Mondays were chosen because so often, Kingston businesses and surrounding communities are not open. What better time to get together for a small bite, some coffee/tea, and a bit of working together on our projects? Attendees must be at least 18 years of age to join our group. Any questions? E-mail Mathew at mathewgnagy@gmail.com

On second Mondays, we will gather to chat about, and work on our projects. The goal on these Mondays is not only to share a strong LGBTQIA+ space together, but to be able to relax with our projects and enjoy conversations with other creative maker-folk and create a Queer-centered A&C community. So much of queer culture happens in bars and nightlife. While there is nothing wrong with exuberant nightlife, it is important to have alternative social settings where we can meet other people, enjoy common interests, and get to know each other. People from all walks of life and all arts/crafts are welcome. Of course, coming to A&C night means your work might need to be portable, but we hope you will join us even if your project can’t get through the doors!

On Fourth Mondays, we will focus on A&C knowledge, exposure, and learning. Ancient crafts, interesting variations of methods we already know, painting techniques, sewing skills, design…whatever the group comes up with. These sessions will be guided by group interest. If you’ve ever thought “Gosh, I sure like to learn how to _______.” Please, speak up and let us know, we’d love to create a 4th Monday where we all might learn with you!

We encourage attendees to bring a snack…either for yourself, or for the group, but this absolutely NOT required.

Our goal is to work together to create a warm, friendly environment where creative moments can happen. Hateful speech of any kind is not permitted. We are aware that our language is changing to be more inclusive and that people will make mistakes. We are all human, but we are also accountable for learning from those mistakes. While our focus is on our Arts & Crafts, please be aware that words can hurt.
