Presented by the New York Transgender Advocacy Group

This 4-module leadership and advocacy training is designed to engage participants around core legislation that impact the transgender and gender non-conforming (TGNC) community. The training is comprised of four 90-minute modules – each module consists of experiential learning, self-reflection, case studies, and a mini project. All activities are aimed at helping participants develop as advocates, allies, and activists who can take action around the most pressing issues in the community, and to acquire the knowledge and skills required for effective advocacy at the local and federal levels.

Overall Objectives

  • Understand gender-based legislation and how it effects TGNC individuals
  • Increase knowledge on TGNC-specific issues at the individual, community, and institutional levels
  • Increase knowledge and skills required for effective advocacy in local, state, and national government
  • Develop an effective communications strategy aimed at furthering a timely and relevant TGNC-specific policy item

TGNC Advocates & Allies Trainings are free and open to everyone.
