The J. Tracy Hermann scholarship was created to provide financial support for a high school graduate who displays leadership toward LGBTQ+ equality. The Center seeks to help mitigate the prohibitive costs associated with post secondary education and to make a brighter future possible for young LGBTQ+ people.

Candidates take active roles in their communities and are agents of change. Candidates may have started a GSA or anti-bullying campaign, mentored younger students, pushed boundaries as an out athlete, written cutting edge articles in their school paper, engaged in student government, combated bullying by being an active bystander, raised money for an LGBTQ+ cause, or worked with local government to expand non-discrimination policies. We are excited to hear from candidates about the forms their leadership takes. $500 scholarships will be awarded to selected candidates who identify as LGBTQIA+ or act as allies.

The Center youth scholarship is named after the Center’s former Executive Director, J. Tracy Hermann, a highly esteemed civic leader who brought many communities together through his steadfast commitment to equality and justice for all.
