JoAnne Myers is an associate professor of political science and co-director of the women’s studies program at Marist College. She served in the Cuomo and Koch administrations, but her favorite positions were with NYC Department of Sanitation, and cooking on the Hudson River sloop Clearwater. JoAnne has authored three reference books on the lesbian and gay liberation movement. She is the immediate past chair of the board of the Eleanor Roosevelt Center at Val-kill (2006-2012). Other board service includes the Grace Smith House and Clearwater. As a founding member of the Hudson Valley LGBTQ Center, JoAnne was instrumental in developing and writing the center’s bylaws. She currently serves as the board’s vice president, chairs the governance committee, and co-chairs the communications committee. Her goal is to involve the Marist community with the center and to develop LGBTQ programming to counter battering.
