LGBTQ Youth Book Club

Our LGBTQ book club for queer teens (ages 12-19) and our allies who love to read QYA (Queer Young Adult) Fiction! Newcomers are always welcome any week. Together we’ll cover cornerstone writers and discover new voices! Discussion and readings lead by a QYA obsesser just like yourself.

PFLAG Kingston

PFLAG, formerly known as Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays, is the United States’ largest organization for parents, families, friends, and allies united with people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or queer (LGBTQ).

Queer Young Adult Meetup

A discussion and support group for Queer Young Adults (“QYA”), ages 18-24, to connect, explore the queer experience, and be themselves in a safe and supportive space. All LGBTQ young adults (ages 18-24) welcomed and light refreshments will be served.

Location: Dutchess Community College (53 Pendell Rd. in Poughkeepsie) in Hudson Hall room 315.

Refuge Recovery

Meets Tuesdays, 7-8:30pm, in the Library.

Refuge Recovery is a non-theistic, Buddhist-inspired approach to recovery from addictions of all kinds. We are a community of people dedicated to the practices of mindfulness, compassion, forgiveness, and generosity, using meditation and kindness to heal the pain and suffering that addiction has caused in our lives and in the lives of those around us.

Our weekly peer-led meetings include guided meditations, readings from the book Refuge Recovery, and group sharing and discussion.

Open to people of all backgrounds and respectful of all recovery paths, these meetings are appropriate for anyone in, or interested in, recovery from any forms of addictive behavior. No
prior meditation experience necessary. Always free; donations to the Center are welcome.
