Anna trained in Expressive Arts Therapy as an undergrad at Lesley University after being raised by a mom who worked in domestic violence and disability fields. Finding their community in the local music scene, they were drawn to using creativity to impact the lives of people and went on to complete the Music Therapy graduate program at NYU.
Anna spent ten years working at non-profits in community mental health and suicide prevention, working with ages from early childhood to geriatric settings.
They are passionate about the importance of LGBTQIA+ communities as they expand in the Hudson Valley and are particularly interested in helping make connections within and between them. As someone who is second generation Latinx, Anna acknowledges the impact of marginalization on mental health. Their approach to counseling is to empower individuals to embrace their authentic selves, explore identity, and find the resources they need.
Anna finds inspiration from the continued expansion of the definition of queerness by younger generations. Originally from New Hampshire, Anna relocated to the Hudson Valley and deeply values connection with nature and its ability to help ground them to the present moment and connect to something bigger. They spend their free time hiking, swimming, gardening, and with their dog.
