The Hudson Valley LGBTQ+ Community Center acknowledges that our building and all of us occupy the traditional lands of the Esopus peoples of Lenapehoking.

As an organization formed to empower, uplift and support, this acknowledgement aligns with our commitment to social justice, those who came before us and our respect for elders both past and present. It also requires us to confront the truths of Indigenous land dispossession, displacement, attempted genocide and erasure.

We acknowledge that these grave injustices continue and are the reasons why many of us as non-Native peoples can live and work here today. Therefore, the Community Center understands that justice for, and solidarity with, Esopus and Lenape peoples must be central to our organization’s purpose and work.
