Group facilitators are an essential part of the Community Center’s focus on well-being, social support, and connection.
Groups offered by the Community Center are an expression of the organization’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and belonging.
Description
Contracted Group Facilitators are responsible for facilitating their contracted group at the Hudson Valley LGBTQ+ Community Center or satellite location with an online component allowing for remote access.
Responsibilities include:
Conduct intakes for new members and document demographics and attendance
Prepare structure and topics for each group session to engage attendees
Provide and/or coordinate appropriate referrals and linkages to services
File progress reports
Submit invoice monthly
Participate in periodic team meetings of Community Center staff and group facilitators
Set up before meetings and break down following meetings
Group Facilitators work with the Director of Programs and Services. Contracts may be offered for a six-month period and are renewable.
Schedule and Group Frequency
Generally, groups meet bi-weekly or weekly for 90 minutes on a regularly scheduled basis. Groups will generally be offered in a hybrid manner, allowing for in-person or remote participation. Groups may be offered at the Community Center in uptown Kingston and/or other Hudson Valley locations.
Qualifications
Demonstrated knowledge and educational interest in the group’s specific topic
Knowledgeable of the diverse LGBTQ+ communities and experiences
Experience as an educator, mentor, or similar role
Ability to devote two hours for each group meeting, including time for set up and break down
Willingness to assist with promoting the group, particularly via word of mouth
