Poughkeepsie Pride
Dutchess County Pride Center was the brainchild of five Dutchess County parents who refused to accept the lack of a local LGBTQ+ organization to provide support to their trans children. One of the first events the Center did was the inaugural 2019 PKGO Pride Parade & Festival, starting on historic Market Street in the City of Poughkeepsie and culminating at the beautiful waterfront Waryas Park.
Every June since, Dutchess Pride has continue to host a monthlong celebration of pride and diversity which includes numerous social events throughout Dutchess County. Additional past events have included picnics, get-togethers, fun runs, author's talks, and theatrical performances.

TOWN HALL: COMMUNITY CONNECTION, COLLABORATION AND ACTION
When we gathered in November, in the days immediately following the election, we were concerned but didn’t know what to expect. Today, we know. We’ve seen the harmful actions of this administration unfold. The efforts to marginalize our community and to erase transgender individuals is right out in the open. We cannot and will not go back.
For this Town Hall for Community Connection, Collaboration and Action, S. Leigh Thompson-Shealy and Rev. Tobias Anderson return to facilitate and guide us. As with our November Town Hall, we’ll include ample time for small group discussion and for folks to share their concerns and ideas. We’ll talk about what we can do, including upcoming actions in our region. This Town Hall is offered as part of our Know Your Rights Series.
All are welcome and encouraged to attend — community members and allies alike. While not required, we do suggest registering so we can plan appropriately. To register, click here.
While we want a packed room, the event will be livestreamed on Facebook for those who cannot attend.
For questions about parking in uptown Kingston, visit our Getting Here and Parking page.
For questions or suggestions about the Town Hall, contact Richard Heyl de Ortiz, Executive Director, at richard@lgbtqcenter.org or 845.331.5300, extension 1002.
