Getting Here and Parking
The Community Center is located at the corner of Wall and John Streets in historic uptown Kingston.
We’re located at 300 Wall Street, just a few minutes off of Exit 19 of the New York State Thruway, set in the Stockade District, a compact urban neighborhood featuring several one way streets. Here are some tips about getting here and parking. For a neighborhood map, scroll down to the bottom of the page.
PUBLIC TRANSPORATION
We are located near several Ulster County Area Transit (UCAT) bus routes:
KS, KPL, EU, R, Z, Yellow, and Blue Routes stop at Kingston Plaza, which is a seven-minute walk from the Community Center.
Red Route stops at the corner of Main and Streets, two short blocks from the Community Center.
PARKING
There is metered street parking throughout Uptown Kingston, as well three municipal parking lots within one to two blocks of the Community Center. Meters are $1 per hour and can be fed with coin or by using the Flowbird parking app. Muncipal lots are also $1 per hour. Parking lot fees can be paid with cash, credit card or the Flowbird app.
On evenings, weekends and holiday, the Ulster County office building parking lot, at the corner of Main and Fair Streets, is open and parking is free. The lot is two short blocks from the Community Center.
On weekends, the owners of 260 Fair Street, between John and Main Streets, make their lot available for public parking. Just look for the mint green building and the lot to the left when viewing the building from the front.
For those who want to save a bit and can walk a block or two more, there is also unmetered street parking in close proximity. There are no meters on Main Street between Wall Street and Washington Avenue, Crown Street from Lucas Avenue to St. James Street and Maiden Lane.
Flowbird is a free app that allows you to pay via the app for street parking meters and in municipal parking lots. The app needs to be downloaded to your phone in advance. To download, click on the Flowbird logo.
When you are parked, Flowbird will remind you as your time is expiring and will allow you to add time from your phone. When using Flowbird for street parking, use the number on the parking meter. The map in the app is a bit misaligned. Using it may result in you choosing the wrong zone number.
ELECTRIC CAR CHARGING
Chargepoint chargers can be found in the municipal parking lot on the north side of North Front Street and in the County Building parking lot at the corner of Main and Fair Streets. Additionally, the Kingston Library, which is located on Crown Street between North Front and John Streets, also has a Level 2 charging station. Each of these locations contains two Level 2 chargers. Please note that while there also chargers in the lot behind the County Courthouse off of Wall Street and they may come up on a search, they are often inaccessible. They are not noted on the map below.
