SLAY SCHOOL: Intro to Drag for Teens is a 4-session workshop series designed to help young people explore themes of identity, self esteem, and representation through the art of drag performance. Session topics include developing a drag persona, learning the historical and cultural context of drag, designing a look, and practicing makeup techniques. Sessions will be led by local drag performers who will mentor teens as they develop their drag characters and learn about drag as a distinctly queer art form. SLAY SCHOOL is open to teens of any gender ages 13-18 who are interested in dressing up and having fun! Sessions will be held at the Community Center on the 3rd Tuesday of every month, 4pm-5:30pm. After the 4 sessions, participants will have the opportunity to show off their skills in a drag showcase at the Community Center during Pride Month.
